The Ministry of Health has reported 7591 new community cases of Covid-19 and 16 more deaths on Thursday. The seven-day rolling average of community case today is 7095 – last Thursday, it was 7981. Of the 16 deaths reported, seven were from the Auckland region, three from Canterbury, three from the Wellington region, one from Lakes, one from Bay of Plenty, and one from Southern. On Wednesday, the ministry reported the first case of Omicron sub-variant BA.2.12.1 without a clear link to the border. It was one of 8150 cases reported nationwide.
