Court upholds shelving probe into forging 2012 presidential polls


Former prime minister Ahmed Shafiq - File photoCAIRO - 8 April 2018: Giza Criminal Court upheld Sunday a decision to shelve investigations into alleged violations of the 2012 presidential elections.The court rejected an appeal filed against the shelving decision in 2017 by a lawyer of former presidential candidate and former prime minister Ahmed Shafiq.Shafiq lost the elections in a run-off to ousted president Mohamed Morsi.Earlier, a judge assigned to probe the case found no need for the investigation as no perpetrators of the claimed breaches were determined.
