Dekernes Court of First Instance ordered on Monday remanding the suspect Ibrahim Mahmoud Ibrahim el-Refai, accused of kidnapping and raping a toddler in Demlash village, into custody for 15 days pending investigations. Daqahliya security services transferred the suspect to Dekernes Court instead of Belqas Court fearing the angry villagers, while dozens of the 20-month old toddler’s relatives gathered outside Belqas Court amid high security presence. The girl was taken to Belqas hospital for medical care and surgery, as she was in a bad health condition. He was remanded into custody for four days on Saturday. Investigations showed that the suspect was known to police, as he was badly behaved and had frequent conflicts with his brothers.
