The Court of Appeal today rejected localist leader Edward Leung Tin-kei's appeal against his six-year jail sentence for taking part in the Mong Kok riots on the first day of the Lunar New Year in 2016. He had pleaded guilty to a count of assaulting a police officer and was convicted of a count of rioting. The appeal applications of two other activists in the case were also rejected. Lo Kin-man, convicted of a count of rioting and sentenced to seven years of imprisonment, applied to appeal his conviction and jail term, while Wong Ka-kui, who was sentenced to three years of imprisonment after pleaded guilty to a count of rioting, applied to appeal his jail term.
