Court order stopping demolition was fake, judiciary says

"It is important to stress that the Judiciary stands by all orders issued in any matter by our courts. The court never issued orders barring Nairobi County government from demolishing illegally constructed houses in the city. In a statement on Wednesday, chief registrar Anne Amadi said the orders pinned on the marked houses were fake. Amadi assured that the Judiciary is uncompromising on corruption, and will take prompt action against individuals implicated in unethical practices. "Judiciary received an enquiry from the county government in May, 2016, seeking to confirm the authenticity of an alleged court order purportedly issued by the Environment and Land Court and it appears from our investigations that some people could be fabricating court orders to serve their own interests," she said.
