A group of white-clad men attacked passengers and bystanders with bamboo sticks and wooden poles inside Yuen Long MTR Station on July 21, 2019. The District Court on Tuesday granted anonymity to more than half of the prosecution's witnesses at the trial of eight men linked to the Yuen Long gang attack on July 21, 2019. The eight defendants are alleged to have been among a group of white-clad men who attacked passengers and bystanders with bamboo sticks and wooden poles inside Yuen Long MTR Station, putting at least 45 people in hospital. Fourteen of the prosecution's 25 witnesses were granted anonymity, including 11 victims of the rampage, RTHK reports. The court ordered lawyers and the media not to reveal the identity of the witnesses, warning it would amount to contempt of court if anyone did so.
