A Nairobi court yesterday lifted a warrant of arrest against Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili, popularly known as Babu Owino, and his bodyguard after they presented themselves in court hours late. Milimani senior principal magistrate Martha Mutuku had earlier in the morning issued arrest orders for Babu and his bodyguard Fanuel Owino after they failed to appear in court for the mention of their case. While lifting the warrant of arrest, the magistrate warned them to take court matters seriously. The two urged the court to lift the arrest order, saying they were at Kibera law courts for the mention of another matter pending before court. The MP and his bodyguard have denied charges of assault, using abusive language and creating a disturbance.
