Twelve Star of the Sea Primary School teachers were on Wednesday acquitted by a Mombasa court in a case where they had been charged with being in possession of examination materials. The teachers were charged in November 2015 with being in possession of unauthorised examination papers on their WhatsApp accounts. According to the prosecution, the teachers committed the offences on November 10, 2015 at the school’s examination centre in Mombasa. An officer who had testified in the matter, told the court that the Kenya National Examination Council might have leaked the 2015 KCPE examination papers. He told the court they received intelligence of the said leakage from a senior Knec official.
