Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri has been acquitted of incitement charges he was facing at the Kisii Law courts. Chief Magistrate Nathan Shihundu ruled on an application filed by Obiri's Counsel Katwa Kigen seeking to have the charges dropped saying the case lacked merit. The MP had been charged alongside his bodyguard Charles Nyakweba and one other person. The count on incitement read that on May 6, 2018 while at Masongo in Kisii County, and without lawful excuse, the MP uttered words meant to incite locals against quarry workers. The MP will now face the last count of breach of peace.
