Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Hoque rejected the suspects' pleas on Monday in one of the most-keenly followed crime cases in recent times. Nayem is another suspect facing rape charges. After the rape case went public, customs detectives raided Apan Jewellers' sales outlets and seized about 570kg of undocumented gold and gold jewellery. Doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital have recently examined the victims and found no evidence of rape. They, however, have said the long gap between the alleged incident and the medical examination could be a factor.
