more-inThe Central Crime Branch police have arrested a man and his wife for cheating investors to the tune of ₹2.62 crore. The couple was produced before the judicial magistrate and sent to prison. Krishnaveni and N. Srinivasa Rao, residents of Pattalam, were arrested based on a complaint filed by T. Rajeswari of the same locality. In her complaint, Ms. Rajeswari said the couple was delaying the payment of the chit amount even after the completion of the stipulated period. A senior official of the CCB said the couple was operating an unauthorised chit fund and more than 20 persons had invested in it.
