County Board approves more gravel for roads

The Gage County Board of Supervisors discussed several road issues during its Wednesday meeting, including approving additional gravel for township roads. The County Board unanimously approved amending the agreement between the county and townships to grant an additional one mile of rock or gravel per township for both spring and fall allotments in 2020. “At our Township Association meeting last week, of course everybody’s main concern is roads,” said board member Terry Jurgens. The allocation varies anywhere from 8-10 miles depending on your location and traffic.”The additional gravel and rock is expected to cost around $3,000 per mile. Jurgens stressed the additional miles will only be for the 2020 year.
