The Gage County Board of Supervisors approved a bid of just over $774,000 to install a box culvert to reopen Pickrell Road east of Pickrell at its meeting Wednesday at the courthouse. Pickrell Road between Southwest Second Road and South Fifth Drive has been closed since April after an inspection of the bridge over Indian Creek discovered deficiencies in the deck. This project would put in a 14-by-14-by-64-foot concrete box culvert on Pickrell Road. The board approved a quote of $151,197 from Masonry Construction, plus $14,718 from Sunbelt Rentals for scaffolding, for upcoming work on the east side of the courthouse. * Approved the county's agreement to lease space from the city of Beatrice for the probation office.
