A counting error has been blamed for a report stating that the number of people visiting a Taranaki town's library has fallen by 50,000 in four years. The figures were set out in a report to the Stratford District Council Policy and Services Meeting on Tuesday. The visitor numbers were not discussed at Tuesday's meeting, although the library was on the agenda for other reasons. Councillor Peter Dalziel asked when the town library and information centre would be combined as he understood it would be in the near future. Councillor Gloria Webby said visitor numbers to the Percy Thompson Gallery had been going from strength to strength and feedback had been exceptional.
