Maheno farmer Doug Brown (65), Otago Peninsula farmer Sam Neill (71) and Dunedin former engineer Trevor Kempton (66) are not seeking re-election next term. Those standing for council had a lot of experience but it would take time to get councillors "on the same page". Council staff have recently called this plan unworkable and it is being rewritten.
