A planning application for nine apartments in the county has been refused by Roscommon County Council. In September the council received an application for permission to change the use of an existing derelict pub building on Saint Patrick's Street, Castlerea, into nine apartments. The application also sought permission to alter the elevations of the building, the construction of an extension along with alterations to the existing roof. On November 21st, council planners refused permission on four grounds, including that the proposal would be contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area. It was also not satisfied that the proposed development would not result in increased or “otherwise undue potential for overlooking of nearby properties”.
