New Zealand Game Developers Association chairwoman Chelsea Rapp said games and interactive media had given people a way to come together while lockdowns and border closures kept them physically apart. “The games industry has proven itself particularly resilient during the Covid-19 pandemic, both here in New Zealand and around the world. By comparison, New Zealand’s interactive media sector is worth just NZ$143 million (€84m). Rapp says the industry is uniquely positioned to contribute to New Zealand’s economic recovery with weightless digital exports.
