The University of Regina Cougars men’s basketball team got 29 points and 12 rebounds from Myles Hamilton on Friday en route to a 106-83 victory over the visiting Mount Royal Cougars in a Canada West play-in game. The U of R advanced to a best-of-three quarter-final against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. Carter Millar added 21 points (on the strength of 5-for-5 shooting from three-point range), seven rebounds and six assists for the U of R, which was seeded fifth in the conference for the playoffs. Mount Royal, from Calgary, was seeded 12th. The host Cougars trailed by seven after the first quarter, but then went on a 22-5 run that included five three-pointers and were ahead to stay.
