Cotu praises Cord, Jubilee for dialogue, says talks should last until solution found

The Central Organisation of Trade Unions has praised Jubilee and Cord for agreeing to dialogue to resolve the anti-IEBC stalemate. On Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta met Cord co-principals Raila Odinga and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula in what was seen as extending an olive branch making room for talks. The organisation said it had reached out to both factions on several occasions in vain to resolve the standoff. In a statement signed by secretary general Francis Atwoli yesterday, the organisation said workers and the business community were concerned about the rising political temperature. This will introduce new dimensions in Kenya’s politics before and after the 2017 election,” Cotu said.
