CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Soldiers, acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, foiled an attempt to bomb Cotabato City on Monday morning after they intercepted a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) loaded on a passenger jeepney. The driver, a certain Amidin Tato, claimed that someone from the town of Kabuntalan, Maguindanao, loaded the bag onto the jeepney and paid an amount of P150 as labor fee. The driver, a certain Ali, claimed the man told him that someone would fetch the bag at the terminal in Barangay Poblacion 1, Cotabato City. “It was similar to other IEDs set off and recovered in Maguindanao,” Encinas said. The van driver said it was loaded by a man in Datu Saudi Ampatuan town to be fetched by someone at the terminal in Cotabato City.
