Now over two years on, the MV Matthew is still being berthed in Cork, awaiting resale, breaking down for recycling or other reuse. An order of disposal was granted for the MV Matthew on December 2, 2024. Revenue is charged with keeping MV Matthew in Cork, which costs the taxpayer around €120k a week. The MV Matthew is subject to the Port of Cork published tariffs," a spokesperson said.
