Coimbatore Corporation has started work to build the city’s first multi-level car parking (MLCP) facility by the government on D.B. At ₹ 40.78 crore, the Corporation would build the MLCP facility on the 60 cents that once used to house Kennedy Theatre. The car parking would be from the first to fourth floor and the civic body would use the ground floor to house the control system, security personnel, and equipment. The time taken to take the car from the customer to the parking lot or from the parking lot to the customer would be less than a minute. The engineers said that after the end of six years, the Corporation would float tenders for maintenance and parking fee collection.
