The pellet gun carried by John Caleb Ross on the night he was killed by York Regional Police. John Caleb Ross, shown here in a 2008-2009 Grade 11 school photo, was shot by York Regional Police officers on April 12, 2014. Ross, 21, died after he was shot twice by an unnamed York Regional Police officer on the evening of April 12, 2014 in Aurora, north of Toronto. Less than two minutes later, Ross was shot by an officer’s rifle. The police watchdog cleared the officer who shot Ross, finding he had reasonable grounds to shoot because he believed his life was at risk.
