Coronavirus panic: Woman dies of alleged wrong treatment, DMCH denies blame

The deceased, Nazma Amin, 24, a student of the University of Regina in Canada, who came to Bangladesh on March 9, was allegedly a victim of wrong treatment as the DMCH authorities suspected her to be a coronavirus patient, her family alleged. Nazma's father Amin Ullah said she fell ill with severe stomach ache on Friday and was taken to a hospital near their home in Mohammadpur. From there, Nazma was transferred to the DMCH on Saturday morning, where she initially received all necessary treatment as the doctors gave her injections and administered IV drip of saline. However, when asked if he had filed a complaint with the hospital administration for the alleged negligence in his daughter’s treatment, Amin said he had not. Meanwhile, the doctor who supervised Nazma's treatment, Prof ABM Jamal, chief of DMCH surgery department, said they had provided the patient with all necessary medication as per her condition, and refuted all allegations raised by her family.
