Associate professor Nikki Turner, director of the Immunisation Advisory Centre, said fewer people going to work because of the lockdown and a greater take-up of vaccination had delayed the start of the flu season. “We can’t predict the flu season, but it will come. “If we persist with the same degree of social distancing, with similar responsibility around staying away from others while we are sick and getting vaccinated, we are hoping to see a milder flu season.
