As the coronavirus outbreak originating in Wuhan, China accelerates, the impact on Canadian and American corporations is intensifying. Evan Chau, president of the Toronto Chinese Business Association, said he has heard of Canadians cancelling or delaying business trips to China. China has extended the Lunar New Year holiday to Feb. 2 from the original Jan. 30 date to reduce travel. The impact on corporations will likely continue to increase, as Wuhan is an important manufacturing, shipping and business hub. Starbucks, the Seattle-based chain, with about 4,100 cafes in China, also said it’s closing some locations, without providing more details.
