RTE deserves some credit for deciding that the show(s) must go on in the face of the coronavirus crisis, while scrupulously observing social-distancing safety guidelines. Nobody can say with any confidence when the coronavirus crisis is going to abate. Broadcasters are currently wrestling with whether to continue making popular shows without studio audiences or to just pull them from schedules. The global economic hardship already caused by the coronavirus may persuade people that a streaming subscription is a luxury they can’t afford. They’re basically working in the gig economy, and like anyone else caught up in that system, they’ll be worried sick about how they’re going to survive.
