Nigel Te Hiko died on Tuesday afternoon after being put into an induced coma when he contracted the virus. A Waikato family already dealing with a death from coronavirus is now grieving the loss of another from the virus. Nigel Huirama Te Hiko, 54, the brother of Alan Te Hiko, died on Tuesday afternoon at Waikato Hospital’s ICU unit, almost two weeks after his older brother died at Middlemore Hospital. Te Hiko, a revered Raukawa leader and historian, lived in Tokoroa and contracted the virus from his brother who worked at Americold. The younger Te Hiko was a revered Raukawa leader and historian.
