Coronavirus: UK plans isolation for over-70s ‘in coming weeks’

Isolating people aged over 70 for up to four months is in Britain’s action plan to tackle coronavirus and will be implemented in the coming weeks, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Sunday. Mr Hancock said: “The thing the NHS needs now more than anything else is more ventilators. Other measures, including school closures, have also been considered as an option to combat the spread of the virus. A Department of Health and Social care spokesman said: “Herd immunity is not part of our action plan, but is a natural by-product of an epidemic. “Our scientists are extremely busy and we’re working incredibly hard, but we will do that in the next couple of days,” he said.
