While 15,000 of the new jobs on offer are temporary to help supermarkets deal with the wave of bulk-buying, many thousands more are permanent. Tesco alone is recruiting 20,000 people, Aldi 9,000 people - 5,000 temporary and 4,000 permanent - Adsa is looking for 5,000 new staff and Lidl is recruiting for 2,500 positions. Natasha Adams, Tesco's chief people officer, said: "I'm so proud to be welcoming thousands of new colleagues to Tesco. "Thank you to everyone offering to help as we work day and night to keep our shelves full for customers. The retail giant said it is simplifying its recruitment process so successful candidates can start work within days.
