Coronavirus: Riot van swoops on pub 'packed full of drinkers' despite lockdown

Photos shared by the Daily Record show a large police presence outside Cheers in Greenock, Inverclyde, this evening. Several people criticised the pub on social media for staying open even though health officials advised all public venues to close to prevent further spread of the virus. DCC Malcolm Graham told the Daily Record that officers, at this time, cannot enforce the closure of any premises. "We are aware of the proposed legislation in relation to coronavirus, and are carefully considering the implications in this very fast moving situation." My thanks to the vast majority of pubs etc that have complied with the Scottish Government’s request to close.
