Coronavirus: Overseas returnees roaming around violating govt directive, hundreds fined


At least hundreds of expatriates– who were violating the government directives– were clamped with fines of over a million taka by countless mobile courts formed across the country. Upon receiving information from the office, they later were fined by a mobile court for violating government instructions on maintaining a 14-day mandatory home quarantine on arrival from abroad. Besides them, a Munshiganj mobile court fined three expatriates a total of Tk35,000 for violating the law. In Moulvibazar, mobile courts shut down at least four wedding ceremonies and fined the organizers Tk1.20 lakh yesterday. In Brahmanbaria, three expatriates returning from Oman, Singapore and Bahrain were fined Tk 80,000 for violating the law.
