New Zealand needs to stamp out coronavirus before winter, Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield says. On Monday, he said the country had a total of 1106 Covid-19 cases - an increase of 67 from Sunday. KEVIN STENT The total of New Zealand lab tests done to date is 36,209 and 3093 tests were carried out on Saturday. About 43 per cent of total cases had a strong link to overseas travel, 38 per cent had links to confirmed cases within New Zealand and there was two per cent community transmission. This included standing up a new contact tracing workforce, the National Close Contact Service based at the Ministry in Wellington which supported PHUs and DHBs.
