Coronavirus: New Look offers 13,000 staff voluntary unpaid leave amid outbreak

On Friday, the company issued an internal memo to its 13,000 strong workforce, offering them the option of unpaid voluntary leave, voluntary reduced hours or the chance to use their holiday allowance for time off for the foreseeable future. "To help ease the impact of coronavirus on the business, we have asked if colleagues would consider voluntarily taking unpaid leave for up to 4 weeks or to work reduced hours temporarily," a spokeswoman told Mirror Money. In a memo seen by Mirror Money, workers were advised that they have three options as the business grapples with the spiralling pandemic. Staff have been told they can take temporary, unpaid leave for up to four weeks, to begin as soon as possible. The news comes as Chancellor Rishi Sunak ordered cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants throughout the UK to close immediately on Friday evening.
