Broadway theaters may be closed through at least next spring because of the coronavirus pandemic. But Don McLean, the singer-songwriter best known for the 1971 hit tune “American Pie,” said that doesn’t deter him from his dream of authoring a musical. If anything, Mr. McLean said now is the perfect moment to start thinking about the project since he isn’t able to continue with his nonstop touring schedule because so many concert venues are closed as well.
