Amid mass exodus of migrant labourers and workers from cities to their native places, the Centre on Sunday directed states and Union territories to ensure that no movement takes place between cities during the lockdown period. "However, there has been movement of migrant workers in some parts of the country. States were directed to ensure there is no movement of people across cities or on highways. States have been advised by the Centre to make adequate arrangements for food and shelter of poor and needy people including migrant labourers at the place of their work. States have been also told to ensure timely payment of wages to labourers at their place of work during the period of lockdown without any cut.
