Coronavirus: Kiwis in 'compulsory isolation' in China crackdown

A New Zealander in China says authorities there have forced him into strict isolation at a "run-down heap" as part of a crackdown on foreigners over coronavirus. The man, who Stuff has agreed not to name, flew from New Zealand to China last week with his wife, who is a Chinese citizen. "They stated that all foreign peoples must be held for a minimum of seven days," the man told Stuff via email. Although the New Zealand man arrived in the country before then, the policy appears to apply retrospectively. "We are aware of a small number of New Zealanders who are in compulsory isolation in China and other parts of the world," a spokesperson said.
