The coronavirus from Wuhan is one which has never been seen before this outbreak. The disease that the virus causes has been named COVID-19, which stands for coronavirus disease 2019. How does the virus spread? This is a similar death rate to the Spanish Flu outbreak which, in 1918, went on to kill around 50million people. The National Institutes of Health in the US, and Baylor University in Waco, Texas, say they are working on a vaccine based on what they know about coronaviruses in general, using information from the SARS outbreak.
