Coronavirus Ireland: Supermarkets to prioritise elderly and vulnerable customers in dedicated shopping mornings

Tesco, Lidl and Iceland supermarket chains are putting in place several hours each morning which will be dedicated for elderly shoppers from tomorrow. Lidl Ireland announced today that from March 17, dedicated shopping mornings will run from 9am to 11am where older customers will be prioritised in queues and additional assistance will be provided. Each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, starting this Wednesday, older Tesco shoppers will have dedicated access to all Tesco stores up to 9am. Lidl Ireland has asked that its regular customers allow the time period of 9am to 11am for “more vulnerable customers to pick up what they need”. — Lidl Ireland (@lidl_ireland) March 16, 2020“We’ve been listening to your feedback and we will be implementing priority shopping hours for the elderly across all 163 Lidl stores in Ireland, 9-11am every day, until further notice,” reads a tweet from Lidl Ireland.
