Coronavirus: Decision on Dhaka University shutdown Monday

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M Akhtaruzzaman told Dhaka Tribune on Saturday evening that the decision will be made in the greater interest of the country. After the meeting, the VC will distribute hand sanitizers among students and staff as part of the university's measures to raise awareness about the Covid-19. 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a virus (more specifically, a coronavirus) identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan, China. In another development, Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) has decided to recommend the university authorities "shutdown the university temporarily or announce summer vacation early after rescheduling," and placed a memorandum to that effect with the vice-chancellor. Echoing the student body representatives, Dhaka University Teachers’ Association, and the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association issued statements concerning the coronavirus outbreak.
