Under alert level 3, playgrounds and similar recreational facilities are off-limits – but that hasn’t stopped people keen to make the most of the weekend sun. In Melbourne, skate parks have been filled in with rocks and sand to deter rule-breakers. David White/Stuff Despite obvious signage warning people not to use the public facilities, people were giving Victoria Park skate park and basketball court a good workout. But under the last lockdown, Auckland Council said removing sports equipment didn’t fall under the “essential work” allowed in alert level 4.
