Christy - the Cork-filmed debut from director Brendan Canty - has emerged as a leading contender at this year’s Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs). Killarney actress Jessie Buckley is among the Best Actress nominees for her role in awards season favourite Hamnet. Steve - produced by and starring Cillian Murphy - is shortlisted for Best Film and Best Actor for Murphy. Murphy is nominated for Best Actor alongside fellow Corkman Éanna Hardwicke for Saipan. Daniel Power, Emma Willis and Jamie Forde have all been nominated in the First-Time Acting Nominees category, with Christy also shortlisted for several awards including Best Film, Actor (Daniel Power) and Director (Brendan Canty).
