Cord's planned rally at Uhuru Park on 1st June has been thrown in limbo as City hall and the police give conflicting reports on the availability of the venue. It is now unclear whether Cord's planned rally at the venue will go on as planned or not. The county government, In a letter signed by Robert K Ayisi dated 25th May, 2016, had given Cord a go ahead to hold their rally at the venue to coincide with Madaraka day celebrations. Cord and Kanu had indicated that they will hold a parallel rally to the national celebrations scheduled for Nakuru's Afraha Stadium to be led by President Uhuru Kenyatta. "We have directed the Director for Environment, Water & Energy whose sector is in charge of Uhuru Park to reserve the same for your use 1st June, 2016 as per your request," read part of the letter.
