Cord principals sued for contempt over IEBC demos

“The petition seeks interpretation of the rule of law and respect for court orders. This is after five Jubilee MPs filed contempt of court proceedings against the opposition chiefs, accusing them of disobeying ordersthat had stopped them from chaotic demonstrations. Justice Isaac Lenaola had ruled that demonstrations and picketing are legal, but protesters must desist from violently storming the IEBC offices countrywide. Orengo represented Cord in the suit that sought to declare the demonstrations illegal, but later dismissed orders as “amounting tonothing”. Cord leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Mosyoka and Moses Wetang’ula and Siaya Senator James Orengo risk civil jail over the anti-IEBC demonstrations.
