Cord yesterday held its fourth anti-IEBC demonstration in Nairobi, Kakamega, Kisumu and Mombasa, but riot police dispersed the protesters. Some Jubilee MPs yesterday dismissed Cord’s anti-IEBC demonstrations, terming them a plot to orchestrate chaos and scuttle the 2017 general election. Makadara MP Benson Mutura warned that there will be a constitutional crisis should the IEBC commissioners resign. Their ultimate objective is to scuttle the 2017 election so they can demand a caretaker government,”Ichung’wa told the Star yesterday. Gatundu North MP Kigo Njenga said the ongoing Cord protests are not meant to eject the IEBC commissioners, but to polarise the country ahead of 2017.
