Corbyn’s megaphone diplomacy

It perhaps shouldn’t come as a surprise that Jeremy Corbyn is more comfortable outside on a protest than inside the pomp of Donald Trump’s state visit. This is a man who has been on more protests than he’s had hot dinners (although admittedly it’s not many hot dinners if you remember his first wife complaining he ate cold baked beans from the tin). The Labour leader boycotted last night’s state banquet but will instead join a protest in central London hoping that his megaphone politics can be heard over the walls of Downing Street. Of course, as the leader of the opposition Corbyn was entitled to request a meeting with Trump and raise his concerns directly. Instead he has chosen to stand outside shouting.
