Share TweetBy Erma EderaFew hours before the New Year, the Manila Police District (MPD) confiscated P350,000 worth of illegal firecrackers around the nation’s capital. Police officials were still verifying the names of the owners of the firecrackers, who face charges of violating the law regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of illegal firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices. The manufacture, sale and use of illegal firecrackers and other pyrotechnics are prohibited under Republic Act 7183. Manila Police District Station 2 also gave away paper horns or “torotot” to some children at Parola Compound in Tondo, Manila to dissuade them from using firecrackers.
