After February's state of emergency forced a postponement, riders were back with a vengeance for this year's Coppermine MTB event. Here, Jamie Harbour makes his descent of the Coppermine Saddle. Following a February postponement due to the fire risk and the declared state of emergency for the Nelson/Tasman region, the 2019 Gravity Nelson & Santa Cruz Coppermine event finally had its day in the sun. Vaughan Watson had a harder slog than most in taking out the single-speed category in an impressive time of 2:16:31 - good enough for ninth on the Classic course. Buoyed by this year's success, Matthew said he was confident the race would continue to grow in the years ahead.
