GEORGE TOWN: Quick action by a policeman saved the life of a 46-year-old fruit stall worker after he was attacked by a man who went berserk. The policeman shot the man in the leg after he attacked the worker with a machete, slashing him on the neck at the Lorong Kulit flea market at about 7am yesterday. The 35-year-old suspect, who is the son of the fruit stall owner, is believed to have been high on drugs during the incident. George Town OCPD Asst Comm Che Zaimani Che Awang said a scuffle broke out between the victim and the suspect, and the owner quickly alerted the police. ACP Che Zaimani said both men were rushed to the Penang Hospital for treatment.
