Cop hurt, stolen truck up in flames in Burlington police chase

A high-speed police chase in Burlington, Ont., ended with an injured officer and a stolen vehicle up in flames late Tuesday night. It unfolded after Halton Police tried to stop a Chevrolet pickup truck at Walkers Line and Mainway at 11:43 p.m. and the driver wouldn’t stop, police said. The pursuit continued onto the eastbound Queen Elizabeth Way but was called off by officers when the suspect driver reached speeds in excess of 140 km/hr. Police say two of their cruisers collided on the QEW during the chase. One officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
